Andy is a digger. He lives not only to dream of the new worlds and experiences that await him on the other side of any obstacle, but also to achieve those dreams with his own two hands. Not afraid to get his hands dirty, Andy often utilises his Element power of exploiting structural flaws to dig tunnels which will bring him to new adventures... to the girl's shower room and beyond!

While not an aspect of his power, his ability to push past barriers extends to people as well. He's very devoted to his friends and more than a little willing to help them out whether they want him to or not. Imaginative and prone to gross exaggeration, Andy is eager to share his "adventures" with others. In the show, he coerces Amata and Jin, whom he dubs as his "Hole Digging Bros," into digging expeditions and secret soirees (pajama parties) without waiting for their consent. Even when met with Mix's prejudice against males, he refuses to give up; in fact, when he recognises the root of her bias, he takes it as a challenge and tries to provoke her into changing her perception on men, even going so far as to take the brunt of an enemy attack for her. In both cases, Andy acts as an aperture: it's his boisterous and often stubborn devotion to his friends that helps them go beyond themselves to see the world through new eyes.

Because Andy is obsessed with new experiences, he pays special attention to the idea of girls--the ultimate new experience! When Neo-Deava was segregated, he would dig tunnels beneath the Berlin to reach the girls-only half of the compound; when the campus united he still dug in order to find a way into the shower room; when he was deployed in a Vector, he'd seek a co-ed Union; and when the gravity of their battle against Altair hit home, he agonised over being unable to "leave his genetic legacy behind." However, when he falls in love with Mix, his strong sense of loyalty interjects. Instead of an obsession with all girls, his attitude shifts to a single-minded crush on her. Even when Mix ceases to be a woman, he remains devoted and asks himself, "Will I still love her with the same intensity if she's a guy?" There's no doubt that he fully intends to, even if the idea of it seems so difficult to him. In the end, though, even that would be just another wall he'd be willing to tunnel through. For her.

His single-minded doggedness does not always work in his favour. His penchant for extremes takes its toll when he falls into despair over messing up his confession to Mix, and delves to new depths when she is captured by the enemy. He's unable to take care of the stress on his own, and it is only when he replaces it with a cold ruthlessness to eliminate every obstacle between him and her rescue that he escapes his self-inflicted misery. He even attempts to use his power to puncture a hole through another person though, thankfully, it doesn't work. This inability to handle his emotions can cause him to lose control of his powers, exacerbating the problem even further as his constant worry and woeful speculation digs him deeper and deeper into the pit of despair.

Despite these extremes of overbearing friendship and unmitigated despair, Andy is capable of interacting with others in a moderate fashion. He's friendly with the girls in his class and never crude; just because he's trying to dig tunnels into their changing room doesn't mean he can't treat them like the friends they are. And they treat him well too because they know that the one thing which underpins all of Andy's actions is the genuine compassion he feels for others. In the end, it is what Andy does and is willing to do out for others that sets him apart.

Impetuous, unflagging, always a little ridiculous, but always approachable, Andy W. Hol is a young man ready to help a world see itself in a different, more colourful, light.
